Susan, I understand where you’re coming from, but Democrats should recognize our part in allowing this. We didn’t ask for a verified recount, even in ANY of the Swing states. We didn’t push for legal action as soon as we could have. We are finally engaging, thankfully, and some Republicans have also come to their senses enough to be outraged, and courageous. But the fault lies with all of us.

Speak for yourself. I have been demanding better from my representatives for decades. At the national level, the only “good” Democrats are the Progressives who are castigated by the DNC and “old guard” wealthy “conservatives” of their party

Just speaking generally. I tend to agree with you about the Progressives. They represent the level of change that people were asking for, perhaps a different type, but the energy of movement. We have to take advantage of that energy and clarity, and the new perspectives. We need term limits, and a standard retirement age. They can move to another position, but not run for the House or Senate. We have work to do!

They can retire in luxury or seek entry level retail jobs or work in “hospitality” services.

They brag about how many new jobs they have created. Surely they can each get one of those.

Because they love to toe thr line with stoicsim and professionalism when they don't need to. They didn't want to seem like the party that is now denying that there are fair elections. This was done by the republican regime on purpose so that the Democrats couldn't fight back.

How do we know what really happened in the 2024 election? How do we know what they were able to pull off? Yes the Democrats were in a bad position having to role model, how to accept election results because of what T did in the 2020 election.

How do we even know? Maybe Elon Musk will expose and tell all.

I agree it has all been deliberate. But I disagree with “couldn’t.” What we couldn’t do, was believe that there were that many heartless, ignorant, “me, me, me,” cowards, who wouldn’t keep their oath of allegiance to the Constitution of the United States, but instead to a person who has never fought a battle in his life, where he wasn’t a stinkin’ bully, full of hate for everyone. We could’ve been fighting back all along, but we didn’t. He’s a paper tiger, and we may have waited, but he and his presidency and his sycophant boot lickers will be shredded. The wheel of karma moves slowly sometimes, but ALWAYS gets it right.

Not “nothing to stop them”. The “people” outnumber the “Gestapo” by more than 500-to-one, if the MAGAts don’t assist the thugs. Even so, the non-MAGAts outnumber the MAGAts by at least 2-to-1.

I agree. A national strike, for as long as it takes, will work. Impeachment was always the solution, and it should be the goal and mission of every citizen. After impeachment, indictments, convictions and prison should follow.🙏

Lewis Caraganis's avatar

Of course. Each time the impeachment process is exercised, the cumulative weight of unconstitutional, criminal behavior is greater. Giving the removers more reason, and more cover, another opportunity, to convict and remove. At this time there appear to be no other good options.

Starlink satellites(LEO), allows for faster data transfer. These satellites operate 342 miles above earth. There are 7,578 satellites currently in orbit. Starlink can directly communicate with mobile devices by bypassing cell towers. The Starlink are designed to be pushed out of orbit in five years time, where they will burn. When Elon said that he helped Trump to win the election, maybe Starlink helped as well.

“Starlink satellites(LEO), allows for faster data transfer.” Faster than what?

In my area, Starlink service is terrible — only a choice of last resort .

We’ll see how many of the depleted satellites “burn” vs. stay in orbit vs. crash into some random place on Earth.

I believe Starlink's objective was to cover vast areas, including rural areas, in order to have access to every cellular device.

Starlink is an expensive and perishable system with limited lifespan satellites that pollute the upper atmosphere. As far as I know, there are no federal regulations regarding the disposal of the spent satellites. Some may burn. Some may crash. Who will pay for any related damages?

This administration cares nothing about environmental damage of any kind. The people will be left dealing with Musk's space junk.

Expand full comment
CK's avatar

Not just this administration. Every Administration after Jimmy Carter’s has not been too serious about environmental protection and justice. The polluters are major contributors to political campaigns of all contenders.

On a road trip through Canada, last year, I noticed that many fast food restaurants no longer have disposable plastic forks, spoons, drinking straws and cups. Disposable/reusable forks, spoons, knives are made of wood. Cups and straws are paper— like the ones in the USA, 60 years ago.

I understand that Parks Canada will be banning all plastic bags, cups, tableware, bottles, etc., from their national parks. That could work in the USA but is opposed by the fossil fuels industry that produces plastics.

Also note that “compostable” plastics from corn do not decompose in compost piles. They can be recycled in special industrial “composting” chambers (ovens) that aren’t ubiquitous. Ironically, the corn is typically grown with artificial fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides derived from government subsidized fossil fuels.

The U.S. is extremely short-sighted where the environment is concerned. Environmental disasters will increase to catastrophic levels. Climate refugees will be on the move in an attempt to find a safe haven. Fema being refunded wil result in continued trama for the American people.

Do you mean FEMA being defunded? NOAA and the EPA are also being defunded.

Ironically, the Pentagon planners have been aware of the possible consequences of climate change and environmental destruction since at least the 1960s. The planners strive to ensure that the armed forces personnel and equipment can function effectively in any anticipated environments. They understand the need for transitioning to clean energy. They know that plastics pollution in the oceans interferes with naval navigation systems.

Only Trump can pardon Musk and the 90 or so young DOGE data miners for their espionage crimes against the US.

Then there are those many billions in federal contracts for Musk’s companies, including tossing out the Verizon Communications contract with the FAA and replacing it with Starlink.
