No, for China it’s the USA way or the highly. They MUST make a deal that Trump accepts. They can walk out but they MUST make Trump happy. They can’t bribe USA politicians this time.

As usual, Trump has no plan and doesn't know what he's doing. He doesn't understand international trade and he doesn't understand his adversary. While he is easier to read than a primary school book.

Bribing US politicians no longer has the ROI it once did. Since you're talking like an American, I'm going to a) that's what you are and b) tell you that China is perfectly fine selling to the rest of the world. We always needed them more than the other way around.

This was always ahead of us. China can push its people to absorb pain. We cannot. The dollar will tumble. Our economy will crash with no hope for years. Bessent is not capable of negotiating. Seasoned diplomats were necessary. China knows this administration is a joke—a fool filled with hot air and no clue about what he is doing. Now he has no face-saving off-ramp. What a jackass. He is destroying us.

Let’s not sit idly by while the Oligarchs in China and the USA play “chicken” with tariffs to dump on us!

Remember, it’s the AMERICAN CONSUMER who has the ultimate economic power!

American consumers spend almost 70 cents of every dollar spent in our HUGE ECONOMY!

Yes! Americans are the KINGPIN of the largest economy ever created! Period!

Therefore, use your spending, or lack of spending, TO PROTEST THIS TAX INCREASE!

Yes, Tariffs are a tax on spending!

Let American and Chinese Oligarchs know that you’re not accepting their tariff war!

They can keep their stuff!

Tell them to “Stuff it!!”

STOP ALL UNNECESSARY SPENDING NOW!

IT IS THE AMERICAN CONSUMER WHO HAS ALL THE POWER IN THE WORLD, not Chinese and American Oligarchs!

Kathy Tankersley's avatar

Exactly, stop shopping at the big box stores that cater to the regime, and boycott the online entities like Amazon. There are other choices to buy from, such as smaller local retailers (who are most at risk to lose from the tariff stupidity). I found a couple of online grocery retailers who try to source their products to stay competitive and I have been happy with them so far. So for those of us who don’t care about the latest fashion brands or have to have twenty pairs of shoes (LOL) ,which used to be me back in the day),there are choices to minimize our spending. My car is paid for and well maintained so I am going to wait and see, not planning to buy now. Maybe all consumers can support each other by proposing a “buy less is patriotic “ approach during this regime.

We’re seniors too!

In Chicago, we have everything, “big box,” midsize and small shops!

The pricier neighborhoods have numerous small shops where you pay more for everything but you are NOT supporting the oligarchy!

It’s so darn worth it if you can afford it!

Lower-priced options are

Aldi and Trader Joe’s (both are German-owned brands!).

Both retailers are better groceries than the dreaded Whole Foods (Amazon) and Walmart!

Expand full comment
Kathy Tankersley's avatar

I agree with you on Aldi, love going there. Trader Joe’s was in the news last year regarding their anti union policies so I have cooled towards shopping there. But Aldi is about 20 minutes away, so one of my favorite places (and yea! We have a new Costco that’s an easy commute from Aldi) so more options.

Who are the online grocers?

Expand full comment
Kathy Tankersley's avatar

Hi, I use Misfits Market online app and Thrive Market to supplement my groceries and products. I live in a semi-rural mountainous area in SoCal so have had weather conditions where it’s sometimes not feasible to drive anywhere and other issues so I decided to subscribe to these two options. And being a senior I am trying to eat a little more healthy, organic foods. Cost wise, probably a little more pricey for some things but so far I am liking them.

This assessment appears to be premature. Talks may break down, but most news services I rely on DO NOT report the talks to have been left in “smoking ruins.” This erroneous conclusion damages credibility and leads to the unfortunate impression of critics too eager to see him fail. Give him time, Trump will flounder soon enough.
