Krassensteins: We Were Right About Trump, But Oh, so Wrong - Trump Indicted
A look back at the last 7 years.
It was during November 2016 that we commenced voicing our opposition and utilizing social media platforms to express our disapproval concerning Donald J. Trump. The catalyst for our actions was not necessarily the same as for numerous others who employed their resources in combating Trump's fabrications. Our activism, comprising online videos and voluble statements, stemmed from our personal history. Our father had been employed by Trump for ten years in Atlantic City, where we witnessed Trump's unethical behavior and absence of compassion directly and its impact on his employees.
Upon Trump's decision to campaign for the presidency, we were already aware of his corrupt nature, dishonesty, and self-centered motivations. Subsequently, he engaged in deceitful public dialogues, infused with animosity and divisive pronouncements. His descent down the elevator at Trump Tower marked the beginning of his inflammatory discourse. The 2016 election occurred a mere nine days after the birth of my first child, which filled me with apprehension concerning the ramifications of this individual, whom I believed would be catastrophic and criminal, potentially serving as President for four years.
Throughout the forthcoming years, we dedicated our efforts to opposing Trump and scrutinizing his statements, highlighting falsehoods, and countering his hateful propaganda. We cautioned America about Trump's criminality and predicted a potential indictment. In the process, we endured innumerable threats, assaults, and abhorrent displays of antisemitism directed towards us. We faced intimidation tactics, such as false mob threats made under our names to an international airport and menacing letters delivered to our address.
Ultimately, our premonition regarding Trump's indictment proved accurate. Nonetheless, our erroneous assumption was in believing an indictment would terminate his political pursuits. The alarming reality of Trump's supporters, who remain unwavering in their devotion, continue to view him as a selfless leader and perpetrate illegal activities in his name. Now, more than ever, the United States requires truth, necessitating ongoing fact-checking and exposure of falsehoods in the public domain. As we approach the subsequent phase of Trumpism, it is plausible that this indictment will not be his last. No fewer than three additional investigations may yield separate indictments within the upcoming three to twelve months.
The next few years won’t be easy for this nation, but we are on the right track. Trump is no longer above the law. He has to answer for the possible wrongs he has done. As journalists and as Americans we will continue to speak out. We hope you all will as well. Please remember that the good guys aren’t the bad guys. Republicans are stuck between a rock and a hard place. They can move on from Trump and better the party, but almost certainly face Trump’s wrath in 2024 or they can stick with Trump and go down with the ship. Considering that Ron DeSantis has today decided to side with Trump in refusing any extradition, it appears he’s already rolling over to go the Trumpian path.
