Back in 2015 the JCPOA—the Iran nuclear deal struck by the U.S., UK, France, Germany, China, Russia, and Iran—locked Tehran’s uranium enrichment at 3.67 percent, slashed its stockpile by 98 percent, mothballed two-thirds of its centrifuges, and put every key site under IAEA cameras and snap-inspections. International watchdogs kept certifying: Iran was playing by the rules.
When Trump Pulled the Pin
On May 8, 2018, Donald Trump tore up that deal, calling it “the worst ever,” re-imposed “maximum-pressure” sanctions, and promised a tougher agreement. No tougher deal ever materialized. Instead, Iran restarted high-level enrichment, its breakout time plunged, and hard-liners who always hated diplomacy surged to power.

The Domino Chain That Led to Last Night
Safeguards scrapped: With JCPOA cameras switched off, Iran pushed enrichment beyond 60 percent—dangerously close to weapons-grade.
Hard-liners empowered: Reformists who had sold diplomacy to the public were discredited; the “no-deal” camp seized Tehran’s security apparatus.
U.S. credibility cratered: Allies who’d staked political capital on the deal now wonder if any American signature is worth the ink.
Regional temperature spiked: Tanker bombings, drone hits on Saudi oil fields, and rocket fire on U.S. troops all followed the deal’s collapse.
Israel’s ticking clock: With Iran sprinting toward a bomb, Israeli leaders concluded the window for a non-nuclear Iran was closing—fast. Even Trump himself admitted an Israeli strike “could very well happen” because enrichment was galloping ahead.
Why the Pro-Trump Rebuttals Fall Apart
Sunset clauses? You renegotiate sunsets from inside the pact—tearing it up erased every safeguard at once.
Missiles and proxies? Those issues required parallel talks; killing nuclear limits fixed none of them.
“$100 billion windfall” fuels terror? Cash was the incentive Iran swapped for inspections; yank the incentive, lose the inspections.

The Road Back
A flawed deal beats a firefight. Diplomacy can extend sunsets, curb missiles, and restore cameras; bunker-buster raids can’t. Until Washington rebuilds trust and resurrects meaningful limits, every night in Tehran will carry the same fear—that another decision made for domestic applause will light up the sky again.

There’s clearly some confusion in the US position right now … and some differences between the United States position and Israel’s position,” said William Wechsler, the senior director of the Rafik Hariri Center & Middle East programs at the Atlantic Council.
It was unlikely that Netanyahu would have launched the strike if he was explicitly given a red light by the Trump administration, said Wechsler. But the Trump administration had hastily distanced itself from the strike and had also failed to suggest it would participate in defending Israel from a likely Iranian retaliation.

Well there we have it once again Trumps dirty hands are stirring tension and trouble only these words are far to mild for what HE has aided and abetted! He is up to his eyes in unlawful acts against anyone who dares to not toe the line. He is up to his eyes in corruption and mass scale abuse of power and now he is up to his eyes in yet another threat to world peace he just can’t help himself!!!
