We are retired, not in California. I fear that this country is no longer safe for anyone. I want to leave, but spouse is not sure. These protests are nothing new for those of us who came of age in the 60’s and 70’s. What is new, is that we have a president who ardently desires to expand the office he was elected to, into an authoritarian style presidency. In other words, he wants to go down in history as a dictator, just like Adolf Hitler. He is not even Republican, nor Democrat. He wants to strip states of any ability to enact laws for the benefit of their citizens. And local entities…counties, cities, towns? No more local government. No more elections at any level. It is here, folks. And we are letting it happen. “Detention” camps are being constructed. Guantanamo Bay is already in use. Today it is “illegal” immigrants. Who among us will be next? Because it will be someone.
I tend to agree with you this country is no longer safe when no constitution, no law, no courts, corrupt illegal law enforcement, blatant racism, beginning of martial law and no accountability or checks and balances for this president and his administration 🤦🏾♀️😡☹️😢🇺🇸
Blame your Supreme Court for granting him almost full immunity! I wonder if they can rescind it? I wonder how many are sorry when they see this sad state of affairs now! F’n felon and idiot piece of 💩 !!
I totally get you. Half of me wants to leave, and the other half says, Never!! Not deserting my country in its hour of need. Plus part of me sneakily envied the cool early Patriots who forged this country out of a British colony! “One if by land, two if by sea”, the midnight ride, etc. Be careful what you wish for, I guess. Crazy how stuff manifests!!
We are also getting conceal/carry renewed…we let them lapse a few years ago. Got the passports for us, international certificates for dogs are in progress. Possibly doing a “test run” to Canada for a short visit while traveling over the 4th. (We will be with MAGA relatives over that same holiday, but will be close to Canadian border.).

Why should you leave? Force the enemies to leave.
If we were younger, I would reconsider. Turning 74 on the 4th.
You have the power to nag your public servants in Congress. Don’t “ask” them to do their jobs. Demand that.
