To answer the questi9n of whether Trump changed or exposed the GOP we have to go back in time. People who saw what was coming and sounded the alarm as early as the 1970's include an interesting trio; Barry Goldwater, Larry Flynt, and Billy Graham. They do say that politics makes strange bedfellows! The descent into this helluva mess began ,at least publicly, when a good, in my opion godly, soft spoken, and yes ineffective Jimmy Carter got played and overshadowed by the larger than life Christian Nationalist prototype, Ronald Reagan. He was already well known and connected and in that defining moment he stepped int9 his greatest and most award winning role....President of the USA Aand idolized leader of the free world. The policies of that administration were insidious. We were blinded by the star of the show to what was really going on. The campaign finance act, Citizens United, etc paved the way for project 2025and Regan a real star of siver screen smoothed the way for the spray tan slime from reality TV. Im doing this offline and don't have access to my stash of historical articles, clippings, etc so tis comment is off the to0 of my head. I'd really love to put this together and flesh it out foe an op/ed piece. Maybe someone would read it!
