"Fewer federal paychecks means fewer dinners out, fewer mortgage payments, more stress on local economies already hanging by a thread." OK, now you finally get how "trickle down" economy really works - those at the top suck up all the wealth and then they piss all over you.

Me, too ! I first recalled hearing it extolled during Reagan and I knew to my core it sounded bogus and scammy. It never has worked for us either.

It was covered in Ferris Bueller's Day Off...Voodoo Economics, it works for the rich only.

Gotta confess, I've never seen that movie. But, yeah, "it works for the rich only," which is why they refuse to drop it. Also, why we should oppose it as hard as possible.

Excellent article! Really great, succinct summary of our free fall onto a bed of spikes in concrete sticking up. It’s ominous, and it’s gonna keep getting more an more real every single day. Every. Single. Day. Yet our Dear Leader will be smiling and happy with thoughts of his King Donnie persona setting in: Military parade honoring him. Alcatraz reopening at a cost of fuck-knows because _fuck you America_. Hot fever dreams of him as Pope because _why not torture the Catholics too?_. It just doesn’t end. Thanks for posting, great work!

I’m not advocating for this, but: We’re way too violent of a nation to let the slide to authoritarian lunacy and fiscal stupidity descend upon us without a response. I’m hopeful we’ll just impeach the idiot before someone offers the lead-and-cordite solution. A group aneurism is my favorite solution, though. Clean, simple and quick.

I feel like americans will turn on each other first, before realising that it’s trump, not the guy providing you food, that is the cause of the troubles. Watched a long video by David Betz in which he predicted responses very similar to the “troubles” in Northern Ireland 1970s. Protect yourselves. Now.

What trump wants more than anything is deport immigrants. He has tried to use a war time emergency order that the courts have denied him. If the Supreme Court disagrees with trump, he will ask Congress to approve to go to war so he can use this law to deport anyone without due process.

My guess is that, had the situation been reversed, and there were more Derek Chauven’s than Harry Donn’s defending the capitol, there would have been hundreds dead that day. And if, as they wished in hindsight, the Proud Boys had brought guns, the number would have been in the thousands.

Sadly, I believe this is what Trump wants. I suspect he continues to push and push his outrages in the hopes initially to distract from his pilfering of the American coffers, but ultimately to justify the kind of violence that allows him to unleash the power of “his” army on the American citizenry. Then there will be no need for him to worry about an election in 2028; in fact, if he moves quickly enough there will be no need to worry about 2026. There will be no more elections. We will be in a state of martial law. It is only the continued restraint of the protestors that will prevent this from happening. Recall that Nixon didn’t lose his job over Kent State. It was the coverup that got him. But Trump does everything out in the open. That’s the lesson he learned from 1974.

Believe FOX has a primary responsibility for Trumps election? Eviscerate FOX. Deny them ad $ by denying the ad buying company CEO and execs bonuses. For example Home Depot. Boycott them for a full fiscal quarter. Get all on line influencers to post every day for the entire time. See how fast CEO’s stop buying ads - do only ONE brand - do it implacably for an entire quarter. See how quickly you become the new sheriff in town and how fast other CEO’s quit buying ads. See how fast FOX changes content. All they care about is $. Oh - and next generation FOX CEO will be a decent human being if you do this.

This week will be the proverbial Shit Hitting the Fan, and at the next Rally, please welcome all the magas who voted for him who will know this week they were duped, yes, they like he is a racist bigot, common ground. But a pissed of maga is a good thing when their ire is focused on djt. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that they will finally put two and two together and instead of making 5 will come up with, That Fucker Lied to ME!!!!!

There's this terrible conundrum I've been staring at for a while. We have no organized/unified opposition because we have no heavy hitting/focused leadership. But organization is required to generate leadership. I see that the congressional progressive caucus, which is 95+ members, could make themselves a unified leader of the opposition. Every one of those 95+ members brings people, resources, and publicity. It would be very potent.
